 Lasciato a lungo solo con se stesso, nella solitudine di quella piccola casa a Memphis, Jeff Buckley ha 

tentato di sollevare da sé il macigno che la vita, senza che lui se ne avvedesse, aveva deposto sul suo cuore.

Le perle di felicità della sua giovane esperienza lo ancoravano alla terra, mentre abissi di profonde introspezioni lo estenuavano al pari dello sforzo creativo cui la sua serietà e l’industria musicale lo sottoponevano quotidianamente.

Lasciato solo in quella piccola casa a Memphis, Jeff Buckley ha perso per molte notti il sonno, troppo teso nello sforzo e nell'impegno di raggiungere un obiettivo e una scadenza che lui stesso e il mondo del business americano gli avevano imposto.

Lasciato solo troppo a lungo con se stesso Jeff Buckley ha scoperto l’essenza intima della vita, ha trovato in fondo a sé le risposte al dubbio della sua esistenza, ha sentito con gioia l’infinito e il senso eterno del fluire del tempo, il superamento delle passioni umane e l’amore immenso che egli provava per la vita e le persone con le quali aveva avuto anche seppure un brevissimo contatto.

Lasciato solo aveva fatto i conti con se stesso, abbandonava la sua pelle di fanciullo e si accingeva a trasformarsi in uomo maturo.

E, a celebrare il nuovo, l’ennesimo rito iniziatico al quale si sottoponeva volontariamente, eccolo alla prova dell’acqua, al superamento della forza della corrente del fiume più grande d’America, alla riva del Mississippi.

Il suo fu un tuffo nel mito per ritrovare nell'acqua l’essenza di sé.

Sentirsi Ofelia o un personaggio di Faulkner, o tornare bambino, quello del mito che cavalca un delfino, o ancora confondersi nell'acqua prenatale, tornare alle origini, al principio, al logos, al padre, finalmente e per sempre. 

Epilogue

Left alone with only himself in the solitude of that small house in Memphis Jeff Buckley tried to lift the weight that life without his knowledge had deposited in his heart.

The pearls of happiness from his youthful experiences anchored him to the ground while the abysses of his profound introspection wore him out as did the creative effort his work subjected him to daily.

 Left alone in that small house in Memphis Jeff Buckley lost many nights of sleep, too tense due to his efforts and commitments. He had to reach his goal and the deadline that the business world of the U.S.A had imposed.

Left alone too long, Jeff Buckley discovered the intimate essence of life, he found the bottom and the answers to the doubts he had about his existence! He felt the infinite joy and the eternal sense of the passing of time, he found the crossing over point of human passion and immense love that he had felt in life and he found the people with whom he had, even if for a  brief moment, some contact.

Left alone he had come to terms with himself, he had abandoned his boyish skin and he was getting ready to transform into a mature man.

To celebrate this new umpteenth rite of initiation, voluntarily he decided on a water challenge! It was to be the crossing of the biggest river in America with its strong current, from the banks of the Mississippi!

His was a dive of myth, to try and find the watery essence of himself.  He dived so he could feel like Ophelia or one of Faulkner’s character or maybe to go back to his youth. To be part of that myth of riding a dolphin or immerging into ones prenatal waters, going back to ones origins, to be with the ones you love, mother and father, finally and Forever.

Quarto album per il pianista Ivan Segreto, uno che fin dall'esordio Porta Vagnu (2004) si muove sulla

linea di confine tra canzone d'autore e pop-rock alternativo con palpabili influssi etnici e jazz ad

arricchire - disperdendole - le coordinate. Sarà per questo che, malgrado l'indubbia qualità, la sua

proposta non ha ancora trovato una collocazione, fatichiamo a riconoscerne la presenza nel mare

magnum delle uscite che incessantemente sbatacchiano la battigia. Ma forse siamo arrivati ad una svolta.

Ovvero, col qui presente Chiaro - prima produzione indipendente dopo che con Ampia (2007) si era

esaurito il contratto con Sony/Epic - non rinnega affatto la calligrafia semmai le fa compiere un gradino

significativo sulla scala del compimento.

E' davvero gradevole il punto di equilibrio tra astrazione e intensità, quella specie di estasi panica che ora

produce impalpabile impressionismo tra Robert Wyatt e Jean Michel Jarre (la title-track) e poi chiama

palpito tribale Peter Gabriel e rapimento Jeff Buckley a congiurare una splendida agnizione

mediterranea come Binirici. Altrove ti capita di immaginarti dove avrebbe potuto condurre l'estro E.S.T.

se stemperato in acque canterine (Risalita), o l'hybris rockettara di Franco Battiato disposta a sinuose

morbidezze atmosferiche (Giovani ali), mentre nella dimessa densità di A la vò ci s'imbatte con piacere

in certo trepido mistero Mark Hollis.

Spiace semmai un difetto - mi sia consentito dire - bjorkiano, ed è nello sforzo di sovra-cantare su certe

non brillantissime intuizioni melodiche, come capita ad esempio nella opening track Ristoro e in

Costernato. Nel complesso tuttavia è una proposta affascinante, con poche eguali nel panorama

Leah e Chris, i due sposini, non hanno creduto alle loro orecchie quando il prete, sull'altare di una chiesa di Oldcastle, nella contea di Meath, in Irlanda, ha cantato per loro l'Halleluja di Leonard Cohen, ripresa con successo da Jeff Buckley. Una sorpresa così coinvolgente da conquistare più di 140mila visualizzazioni in pochissime ore. La performance sull'altare ha confermato quello che già gli irlandesi dicono di lui: ''Il miglior prete di sempre''.
